5 ft² of leather, 30 yards of yarn and two old school but cool reflector buckles: That’s the material Marion Klatt used when she designed her first tornister bag ten years ago. Much has changed since then: details, materials and manufacturing processes have been continuously optimized and adapted…
For the BODY of our bags we mainly work with greased cowhide. This type of leather isn’t fancy, we want you to actually use it for a long time. One of its special features is the so-called Pull-up effect: with the time and use the leather becomes brighter; the bag therefore shows signs of life. We love this effect! At the same time it forms a shiny patina which is typical for greased leathers, making our bags more and more charming with growing age. For us, these particular haptics and optics are as important as the fact that our leather does not stain. Therefore, we continue to work with chrome tanned leather.
The LEATHER OF OUR STRIPES is mainly selected for optical reasons. It is much thinner and softer than the body leather – and adds a colorful touch to each HAEUTE tornister. Up to date we order the leather in Italy, each soft as velvet and with shiny colors or special patterns.
All our YARNS are industrial yarns made of high-strength synthetic fiber. Trying to tear it with bare hands, you will rather hurt yourself than see the yarn rupture. Giving the stable hold to our bags and wallets, the quality of the yarn is very important for us.
The BUCKLE with the colorful reflector is the main characteristic of a typical HAEUTE tornister. For the first tornisters Marion used original buckles of old leather knapsacks, which she found in the shoemaker workshop she worked in. Today, we have them manufactured of nickel-plated brass and in different colors – red, orange, white and without reflector.
The concealed MAGNETS allow closing the bag with just one flick of the wrist. As soon as the buckle snaps, the magnet closes automatically. We exclusively use so-called pot magnets. This means that the magnet itself sits in a small iron pot only open to the outside. It therefore radiates just in one direction: your credit cards and pens are safe and stay in place.
To attach the shoulder strap, interior pockets and other compartments in or to our bags, we use RIVETS wherever possible.
Once brought together, the two parts of a rivet are no longer possible to separate without violence. The stability is perfect – and yet so simple. We hereby only use stainless rivets of nickel-plated brass, so that rain, sweat or even a spilled water bottle cannot lower the quality.
